Jessica Careen King...
![]() | is a dancer from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina who was a contestant on
the fourth season of the Fox reality television show So You Think You
Can Dance! But an injury forced her to prematurely leave the
competition. Her birthday is May 29th 1985. She is a Visual Arts Major at Coastal Carolina University and has been taking formal dance lessons within various styles including tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop and contemporary since she was 3 years old. Besides dance, Jessica enjoys doing art such as painting, drawing and photography. She also enjoys working out, kick-boxing and running! Jessica previously auditioned for So You Think You Can Dance in the 3rd season but did not make the top 20. She re-auditioned and ultimately made the top 20 for Season 4 and was paired with contemporary dancer William Wingfield up until the top 10. She would love to work with choreographers Mia Michaels and Wade Robson! Jessica's injury It was reported on 14 July 2008 that Jessica King suffered a major injury coming in to the Top 10 and was forced to bow out of the competition, giving her spot to previously eliminated contestant Comfort Fedoke. Executive Producer/Judge Nigel Lythgoe comments "I would like to say how sorry I am that Jessica cannot continue dancing in the competition at the advice of her doctor. Her full recovery is paramount and will only come with rest". When asked for additional clarification at Monday (July 14) morning Television Critics Association press tour session for the show, Lythgoe obscurely commented "I'm afraid I can't be specific about the injury". He wouldn't address what the injury was or when it had occurred. He promised that King would give more information on a future show. He would only say that the mystery injury would take up to five weeks to heal. According to a blog at zap2it.com "King's body is, in fact, in bad shape. Word is she's been suffering since the beginning of the competition, but kept her injury a secret from producers until this weekend. At the hospital this Sunday, doctors refused to give her clearance to continue dancing, and that's when Comfort was called to step in". On 16 July 2008, Jessica spoke out about her injury during the beginning of the top ten show and stated that the pain in her side that she has recently felt, which she thought was just a cramp and it ended up that she had broken two ribs and fractured another. She said that the doctors are not allowing her to dance for 4 weeks to allow her to heal so she would still be able to attend the tour. We are all so thankful that Jessica has had a speedy recovery and was able to go on tour! (Thanks to the Jessica King bio on Wikipedia for some of the info) |
